On March 24, 2023, IPI bid farewell to IPI Director Dan Clark as he entered retirement.

Since his appointment as Director of IPI in 2011, Dan has worked tirelessly to expand the work training opportunities available to the men and women incarcerated in Iowa's prisons.

Just a few of Dan's major accomplishments include:

  • The introduction and implementation of IPI's Lean Manufacturing program "PIMMS", which provides valuable skills for the incarcerated associates in the IPI program.
  • The expansion of the DOC/IPI Apprenticeship program to all nine of Iowa's prisons. Over 300 incarcerated individuals have earned an apprenticeship through the program.
  • The establishment of IPI's Home Building Program which continues to grow; the program offers affordable housing built by incarcerated men learning in-demand construction skills.

IPI hosted an open house for Dan on January 27th in the IPI Showroom. The IPI Leadership Team presented Dan with the 2022 Champion Award as recognition of his "unmatched support of Iowa Prison Industries' work training program."

IPI thanks Dan for his leadership and vision throughout his tenure as IPI's Director and wishes him well in his retirement.
