Customers are welcome to visit Iowa Prison Industries offices and plants to place orders or discuss special needs. Please
call or e-mail before visiting to ensure that an appropriate staff
member will be present to meet you.

How can I find out the status of my order?
IPI understands how important your order delivery date is to you.
Therefore we offer several options for you to find out the status
of your order.
Am I (or my company) eligible to buy from IPI?
The following groups and individuals are eligible to purchase from
Iowa Prison Industries:
- Tax-supported institutions and government subdivisions, including
state, county and city agencies, and school districts.
- Non-profit groups, including churches, fraternal organizations,
and parochial schools.
- Employees of eligible institutions agencies, and organizations.
How can I get more information on IPI products and services?
We offer several ways for you to receive more information on our
products or services.
Who makes the products that IPI sells?
Iowa Prison Industries employs inmates at several facilities
in Iowa. Inmate employees, supervised by IPI staff, manufacture
all the products IPI sells.
How long will it take to receive my order?
The majority of IPI products are made-to-order. Therefore, delivery
times depend on the several factors such as the product, how busy
the plants are, and our delivery schedule. Please
contact your sales representative
or the Des Moines sales office at 800-670-4537 if you need more
information.
What will the shipping charges be
on my order?
- Furniture Orders shipping within Iowa: Shipping is
free on any furniture order over $1,000. For furniture orders
under $1,000, a shipping charge of 10% of the order total ($9.50
minimum) will be added to the order.
- Consumables: Chemicals/Plastics/Filters Orders shipping within Iowa:
Shipping is free on orders of these products over $500. For
orders under $500, a shipping charge of 10% of the order total
($9.50 minimum) will be added to the order.
- Office & School Apparel Orders shipping with Iowa: Shipping Charges will apply to all Office & School Apparel orders. Charges will be dependent on several factors including type of items ordered, quantity of items ordered and your location within Iowa. A shipping quote will be provided to you upon receipt of your order.
- Textiles Orders shipping within Iowa: Shipping is
free on orders of these products over $500. For orders under
$500, a shipping charge of 10% of the order total ($9.50 minimum)
will be added to the order.
- Print Orders shipping within Iowa: Shipping is free
on orders of these products over $500. For orders under $500,
a shipping charge of 10% of the order total ($9.50 minimum) will
be added to the order.
- Sign Orders shipping within Iowa: Shipping is free
on orders of these products over $750. For orders under $750,
a shipping charge of 10% of the order total ($9.50 minimum) will
be added to the order.
- Engraving Orders shipping within Iowa:
Shipping is free on orders of these products over $500. For
orders under $500, a shipping charge of 10% of the order total
($9.50 minimum) will be added to the order.
- Orders shipping outside of Iowa: For all orders shipping
to an address outside the state of Iowa, IPI will provide a freight
estimate based upon the size and weight of the order.

Can I purchase IPI products?
The same eligibility requirements
apply to all organizations or individuals whether they are located
in Iowa or another state. Please contact the Sales Office at 515-242-5770 for more information.
I'd like to see a sample before I place an order. How can
I do this?
We encourage you to see first-hand the quality products that IPI
produces. We have a large variety of products on display in our
showroom. Our sales
staff may also be able to bring a sample to you.
Who do I contact to get a product I’ve purchased
from IPI repaired?
For repairs, please call your sales
representative, or contact the Des Moines sales office at 800-670-4537.
Are your products guaranteed?
All our products are covered by our exclusive
guarantee.
Do my tax dollars support IPI?
Iowa Prison Industries is a self-supporting division of the Department
of Corrections. Revenue from the sale of products pays for all cost
of operation, including civilian salaries, inmate allowances, raw
materials, and equipment. No tax dollars are appropriated by the
legislature.
Does IPI accept credit cards?
IPI now accepts Mastercard & Visa for orders under $10,000 placed on the IPI website only; other restrictions may apply. For any order that is placed via phone, email or fax, the accepted methods of payment are by purchase order for qualified organizations or personal check for individual orders. IPI reserves the right to request payment in advance for any order.
