It's Not Just a Cafeteria

Today’s cafeterias are more than just a place for students to eat lunch; they may also serve as a staff meeting room, a community gathering space, a before-after school program space, a school event space, or perhaps all of these. How do you meet all of these demands while still fulfilling the most basic need of providing a place for your students to eat?

The key to creating a multi-functional space is flexible furnishings; cafeteria tables must be simple and safe to operate, easy to rearrange, easy to store and make the room easy to clean. IPI offers two lines of cafeteria tables to fulfill all of these requirements in any budget. Tables are available in a variety of shapes and sizes to meet your seating requirements.

Cafeteria spaces must also be inviting and promote a sense of school pride to students, staff, parents and the community. The use of school colors, school logos and other graphics in your cafeteria will make your space more appealing, foster more social interaction and increase school pride.

A recent cafeteria installation (see photos) at Clinton Middle School showcases how a cafeteria space can be both flexible and inviting. The space includes a variety of round, rectangular and oblong mobile folding tables in assorted school colors; some even sport the CMS logo. A combination of attached seating and stand-alone seating gives the school more flexibility to set up the space for events without tables or for use elsewhere in the school. Additionally, restaurant-style high-top tables, stools, and mobile booths make the space more appealing to the high school students.
