About IPI Apparel Services

Iowa Prison Industries' Office & School Apparel operation is part of the Mitchellville Textiles division.

We offer embroidery and digital garment printing on a wide array of garments. We can personalize everything from dress shirts and polos for your organization to t-shirts and hats for your recreational sports team. We can create custom artwork for you, or you can supply us your own. Then we’ll apply it to any of our huge selection of brand name apparel or you can even supply your own apparel if desired.

IPI proudly offers competitive pricing and excellent customer service. Quotes are provided at no charge. Then you can place your order knowing it will be completed with the same high standards IPI has set for all our products.

Minimum Order Quantity
Iowa Prison Industries requires a minimum order of 12 pieces. Clothing styles, sizes and colors may be mixed and matched to reach the minimum order quantity. Headwear and Accessories minimum order quantities are per style, colors can be mixed. The minimum quantity is waived on briefcases only. Discounts are available at 48, 72 and 144 quantities; call 515-967-7651 for pricing on orders over 500 pieces.

Embroidery Charges
Per piece charge:
- 1-50 pieces, $0.75 per 1,000 stitches
- 51-100 pieces, $0.70 per 1,000 stitches
- 101-150 pieces, $0.65 per 1,000 stitches
- 151-250 pieces, $0.60 per 1,000 stitches
- 251-500 pieces, $0.55 per 1,000 stitches
- 501-750 pieces, $0.50 per 1,000 stitches
- 751-1,000 pieces, $0.45 per 1,000 stitches
- 1,001-1,500 pieces, $0.40 per 1,000 stitches
- 1,501-2,000 pieces, $0.35 per 1,000 stitches
- 2,001+ pieces, $0.30 per 1,000 stitches

Logo set-up: Initial logo set-up charge is based on the stitch count of the logo, $20 minimum. Quotes and a digital logo sample are provided free of charge; a stitched sample is $25. This is a one-time logo charge; you will only be charged the logo fee on the first order you place that uses that logo.

Digital Apparel Printing Charges
Iowa Prison Industries utilizes a digital printing process that prints your design directly on your clothing. A fairly new process, digital apparel printing allows for full-color designs without any additional charges; no screens are used like in traditional silk screening. Digital apparel printing is available on light colored apparel only (white, yellow, light tan, light grey, etc.) with a polyester content of 50% or less.

Logo set-up: Initial logo set-up charge is $5 for most logos with customer supplied artwork. Very large or extremely complex logos may be subject to additional charges. This is a one-time logo charge; you will only be charged the logo fee on the first order you place that uses that logo.

Artwork Submission
IPI prefers to receive your artwork via e-mail in JPEG format; however, we can accept anything: e-mailed art, faxed art or mailed hard copy. Just send us what you have and we'll work with you on the rest. Please submit the Logo Digitizing Request form with your artwork for faster service.

IPI offers the following 20 thread colors at standard pricing. Additional colors are available; extra charges will apply.

How To Place An Order
Please download and fill out the Office & School Apparel Order Form. Please follow the directions on the order form and e-mail or fax the completed form to 515-967-7653.

Order Delivery Time Frame
IPI strives to fulfill all embroidery orders within 30 days from receipt of order. If you have a rush order, please let us know your deadline, and we will try to accommodate.

Return Policy
Embroidered or digitally printed clothing and accessories are non-returnable. Please work with your sales representative to ensure the colors and sizes of clothing and accessories ordered are correct.

Shipping Charges
Shipping Charges will apply to all Office & School Apparel orders. Charges will be dependent on several factors including type of items ordered, quantity of items ordered and your location within Iowa. A shipping quote will be provided to you upon receipt of your order.
